Ruslan Andreychenko was born in the former Soviet Union. At 22, he was an accomplished musician, composer & part of a rock band. He was also a drug addict & alcoholic. During the uncertain times of the breakup of the USSR in 1992, Ruslan had a dramatic encounter with the living God, was completely delivered from drugs & alcohol and gave his life to Jesus Christ. He immediately went out on the streets to play his guitar and sing of the goodness of God. Then he began to preach. Two Pentecostal pastors happened to walk by. As they stopped to listen, one of them put his hand on Ruslan's head and began to prophesy that he was called to preach the Gospel to the nations. Ruslan and his wife, Svetlana, have pastored Light of the World Church in Mongolia for the past 16 years. They feed children, rescue young girls from the street and are faithful, active evangelists and leaders for the social needs of their community.
The Good Shepherd social service program at Light of the World Church in Erdenet, Mongolia serves more than 100 children per month. The church provides daily meals to low-income children, as well as teaching them about the Bible, providing school supplies and homework help, and providing many other forms of support and assistance. The children who participate are often at risk, coming from single-parent families or families dealing with alcoholism. Some of the first children to participate in the program (in 2005) have now grown up and are helping to lead! Since so many children have gone through this program, Light of the World church now has a thriving youth ministry and outreach. (taken from The Antioch Group who also support "Light of the World".)
